Slip in dampers allow you to install a damper by just cutting a simple slot in the bottom of a duct. No need to cut out an entire section. RetroZone's™ Slip In Series of Retrofit Slip In Dampers allows easy damper retrofit to sheet metal ducts that are already installed, where it would be difficult to cut out a complete length of pipe to install a traditional mechanical damper.

To install, just cut out a strip of metal about 1 inch wide by the length of the blade, slip in the damper, and secure using sheetmetal screws. Using tin snips or other sheetmetal tools cut a slot about 1 inch wide, and seven inches long, then just insert the damper and screw into place.

Tech Tip: Where to use Flexdamper™ Air Actuated Retrofit dampers instead of Slip In motorized dampers:

• A. Consider Flexdampers™ whenever you have more than two dampers per zone due to lower cost.
• B. Use Flexdampers™ wherever you have poor access to the outside of the duct. Also, while it is never recommended to sheet rock over, or limit future accessibility to any moving part that may need service, if you must, then use Flexdampers™. Like any air powered device, the pump and air switching components are in the mechanical room, for easy service.
• C. All other Applications, Slip In dampers will work great for you.
